Made by Retevis, a Chineese radio company, these little radios are actually of quite decent quality and can take quite a beating.

Advantages to this radio (aside from its low cost) is its small size, and long battery life. This makes it a #1 pick for most businesses and families due to its resilience when dropped, slammed, or rained on, and because if it is to become damaged beyond operation, the replacement cost is so low.

The belt clip is very convenient, fast and easy to use, and is relatively tough but is breakable should you get a good snag on a vine or cable.

While this radio is quite reliable, cirtainly the best of the Chineese radios we have seen, they are not as reliable as other big name brands in our experiance, and should not be used for emergency services. We have also noticed the battery life (when used every day and left in hot vehicles) is only about 2 years, however at this time replacement batteries are less then $7.

Note: If using the seperate drop-charger, the belt clip must be off the radio, and that charger is also powered by Mini USB.


Programming:

Basic: Radio is programmed with GMRS/FRS (walkie-talkie) frequencies, with or without a privacy code to limit interference. These would work with many other walkie-talkies.

Custom: Provide us with the frequencies / PL codes (or channels) you would like in your radio, as well as other settings. The programming cost is ONCE per order per program. Example: 20 radios with 2 different types of programming will be 2 programming charges.


New to programmable radios?

These radios can operate on frequencies in the UHF band, including GMRS and FRS (what regular walkie-talkies use). Many businesses and emergency services also operate in this frequency range.
